Sophie Dyson

After graduating from Oxford University in Mathematics, Sophie worked as an actuary in the UK and Australia for 20 years, focusing on health care financing and funding since 2001. She completed a Bachelor of Paramedic Practice at the University of Tasmania (Rozelle campus) in 2017 and currently works as a paramedic. Sophie’s interests include walking, canyoning, cooking, reading and spending time with friends and family.

In spite of her actuarial training, statistics is not Sophie’s favourite subject. Sophie loves the world of maths and science. Her approach focuses on underlying concepts, developing things from first principles, understanding how things fit together and asking why? With a solid understanding of the fundamentals, she helps students apply knowledge and techniques confidently to solve problem.
