Melia completed her HSC in 2008, enjoying such subjects as 4 Unit Mathematics, Advanced English, Physics, Chemistry and, for personal interest, Ancient History. She undertook a Bachelor of Science (Advanced) from the University of Western Sydney to indulge her passion for Anatomy and Physiology and majored in Human Bioscience. In 2012 she completed her Honours degree in tactile neuroscience and was awarded the UWS University Medal upon graduation. She is now a first year medical student at the University of Sydney.
Travel being a real passion of hers, Melia has sought to utilise her skills in volunteer capacities both at home in rural aboriginal communities and abroad in South America. Discovering that her drive to help people could easily be extended beyond the medical field, she consequently finds tutoring students to be a highly rewarding and fulfilling experience.
